January/February news

Nearly no strong wind in January and February this year, we had a really good time on the Tuna Coast with all species at all techniques. Livebaits were still difficult to catch so we used bonitos, even big ones and caught some serious roosters, the biggest one was a 96lbs specimen caught on big popper. The density of big roosters is really unique in Pedasi and we are confident that soon the new IGFA all tackle record will be broken here.

December news

December is considered as one of the best months for giant roosterfishes on the Tuna Coast, last year has been great.  This year we had some great weeks and 1 slow week, with wind and small fishes, fishing is still fishing and even if we didn’t reach the last year level we got some big specimens. Popping and livebait were the best techniques, speed jigging was slow (right now speed jigging is at the top with many amberjacks, snappers and groupers).

It looks that this year the cold current will bring a lot of fish for february and March, specially on jigging, you will see that in the next news.

Sport fishing July news in Tuna Coast Panama: sun, rain and many fishes!

We had a really flat sea in July in Tuna Coast Panama, with big surface activity. The best baits were present too: the Blue runners and allowed us to fish with livebaits. Weather was wether rainny or very sunny but the rain never lasted long and we could fish normally everyday.

Here are some shots from our guest Kevan who is a real artist and stayed only 3 days:

Hi Pascal,
>
> Thanks again for a fantastic fishing and gourmet food experience!!!!

>
> My camera has a great sense of timing…It died on tuesday morning in
> Panama City (having done all the important work!)…now I’ll have to
> come back to get some photos of the canal……!!
>
> Good luck over there and let us know how the season develops - best
> regards, Kevan.

Last June fishing week: all on popper!

These are pictures of the last fishing pictures from Mads, who came on the Tuna coast to enjoy his first sport fishing trip in Panama. It was the first time also he practised surface lures with heavy spinning gear.

From the first day he found a big surface activities an learnt quickly how to use big poppers. Many fishes were caught this week with a total of 18 different species, all on surface lures except the sailfish:

Cubera snappers, Mullet snappers, yellow snappers, Grouper, jack Crevales, Big eye jacks, Blue jack, Blue runner, rainbow runners, Scierra mackerel, Bonito, Skipjacks, yellowfin tunas, Doarados, sailfish, Roosterfishes, Great Amberjacks and may be I forget more…

Many Cuberas this week with a special day with 8 cuberas and 8 Roosterfishes caught on the popper!

Here are some of the pictures with a new surface lures addict, Tuna Coast is the new sport fishing spot in Panama!

img_4609-640x480

Amberjacks were caught both on popper and butterfly jigging.

img_4619-640x480

The 3 first days were the best for tunas but saddly the 2 big ones that mads fought were lost before to reach the boat…

img_4628-640x480

many Dorados this week, still on surface jigs.

img_4673-640x480

Scierra mackerel si also fun at this size.

img_4678-640x480

Big Cuberas are the nastiest fishes, a minimum of 80lbs braidline is required to stop them going back to the rocks.

Big Mullet snappers

Tunas, Roosters, Dorados, Snappers, Sailfishes etc… all in Tuna coast this month!

May is the month of transition between dry and rainy season in Panama, but this year first rain came very late on the Tuna Coast area and gave us sunny sportfishing days in Pedasi until June.

Azuero Peninsula, has always been drier than the others region, like Chiriqui or Darien, and allows us to fish year round without any problem.

See our last pictures below, May was a great fishing month, with plenty of different species and thousands and thousands of tunas! Popper has been the best technique (we lost 2 black marlins popping for tuna, the same week…). Pedasi and the Tuna Coast are really one the best sportfishing spots in Panama, with very few sportfishing boat, come and enjoy it!
